Editorial calendars have a lot of potential to boost blog traffic. Creating a consistent schedule with your blog posts helps your readers know when to expect to look for new posts. It is incredible how traffic becomes more steady once the frequency of your blog posts is steady as well. Posting four times in one week and then one time the next week is not consistent and harms the brand that you are trying to build.

1 | NO MORE MISSING DEADLINES
You have pre-planned your blog posts, so more than likely you have pre-written these posts. By finishing your blog posts ahead of time you are able to schedule them to be published on their own. No need in having to log in and publish them yourself! Your blog can actually run itself while you step away for a week. Which is pretttttty nice because you deserve a break sometimes. Blogging your heart out is hard work. Deadlines can be easy to miss when you have a million other things on your plate as well!
2 | HELPS WITH SOCIAL MEDIA POSTING
Now you know when your posts will be coming out so you can also pre-plan your tweets and Facebook page posts. Coordinating your social media and blog posts are huge and is a fantastic marketing tool. This will help with consistent social media posting as well and allows you to see the bigger picture when it comes to your social media schedule in relation to your blog post schedule.
3 | NEED A BREAK? TAKE ONE
Thanks to your editorial calendar, your blog can run smoothly without you (as mentioned in the first point above) so if you feel like you need to take a break then just take one! Sit back and relax, and maybe even have fun planning your next month out! Or maybe not, since you are taking a break after all.
4 | KEEPS COLLABORATIONS AND OTHER GIVEAWAYS IN ORDER
If you are someone who loves to collaborate with other bloggers and host giveaways, then an editorial calendar is a must. You can now spread out all these activities evenly throughout the month and coordinate when you will shout out each activity with a specific blog post.
5 | YOU ARE ABLE TO FOCUS ON QUALITY
Now you are not scrambling for a random topic to blog about this week. No, you were smart and planned out the entire month. You know which topic you will be concentrating on each day and are able to now focus on creating quality posts instead of the topic of the post. This is so important for Search Engine Optimization purposes but also because you want to give your readers the best of the best. I mean they are devoting their time to reading your posts, give them quality content!
6 | EFFICIENCY IS BETTER THAN NON-EFFICIENCY
You’re being efficient which is the bomb. You are saving time. You are rocking this whole blog thing. All because of an editorial calendar that provided some efficiency in your life! I love being efficient, taking it to the extreme is not uncommon and drives my husband insane. So this point is more than enough by itself to convince me that an editorial calendar is a must.
7 | MAKES IT EASIER TO SAY “NO”
Although you have pre-planned the whole month, your calendar is still flexible (unless you choose otherwise) but this is why I have my planner on a dry erase board so that I am able to move things around easily. Sometimes, you are too booked and need to say no however. And with an editorial calendar, the decision between a yes or a no is easier to make.
8 | APPEARS MORE PROFESSIONAL
All of us want professional blogs, especially the bloggers who are looking to make money from their site. Having an editorial calendar gives the impression of professionalism and gives off the vibe that you are serious about your blog. Which is a fantastic thing! Go you!
9 | CREATE THEMES
My theme this month is “bettering yourself as a blogger + biz owner” because I knew that I needed some encouragement and assumed others did also! Creating themes is a great way to get readers focused in on one topic. Also, instead of posting about random topics sporadically you are now able to really adhere to one area that your readers may be struggling in and expand.
10 | ALLOWS YOUR CONTENT TO BE MORE STRATEGIC
Instead of your content being thrown together, you can now center around a strategy. Being strategic with your content has a crazy amount of benefits that are hard to beat.
11 | YOUR AUDIENCE WILL BE THANKING YOU
You’re providing better content in a more effective way. Why would your audience not be thanking you?
