Okay all you boss babes. I wrote this post for the both of us. All these insecurities are given way too much power in our lives and we need to get rid of it! For crying out loud, we run our own businesses. We should be confident and proud of ourselves every second. But instead, many of us get caught up in this whirlwind of self-doubt, pity, and creative killer moods. Let’s put a stop to it by applying these 14 encouraging tips in our lives (I’m applying them to me also, you’re not alone!).

1 | MANAGE YOUR STRESS LEVELS
I understand. I’m right there with you. My stress levels soar because I work myself to death (110% workaholic right here) and stress even more when forced to relax. I love my business and I love being in my business zone where everything else around me fades. But when this zone is 24-7, stress levels tend to rise fairly quickly and this isn’t good for a lot of reasons. It releases horrible hormones that don’t need to be released, your overall health declines, and if you’re anything like me, you are in a terrible mood/on edge for the whole day. Before my business comes my husband, and to be quite honest with you, I struggle with this. When I have a ridiculous amount of stress in my life I am not the best wife I can be (but I am thankful for my hubs because he is so sweet and so patient). So yeah, let’s manage our stress levels for not only ourselves but for the sanity of those around us. Deal?
2 | SOMETIMES FAKING IT IS OKAY
So sometimes it is okay to lie to yourself. You feeling down? Smile. Even if it is a pretend smile, it will turn into a real smile with time.
3 | SAY NICE THINGS TO YOURSELF
You’re awesome and you deserve to have awesome things said to you. Most times the negative feedback we receive from all the work we do is from ourselves. We tend to be pretty rough on all the hard work we put into things. Just realize that you rock and write down 10 things about yourself that you absolutely love. If you cannot think of 10 things then let me just tell you that you are way too awesome and there are way more than 10 things about yourself you should love.
4 | LEARN TO TAKE CONTROL
Taking control of situations is easier than you may think. When entering a skype call with a client, make sure to give off the impression that you are the “leader” in the conversation. Your client is paying you because they are confident in your abilities, by leading the conversation you are giving off the impression that you are as confident in your abilities as well. Which you should be, if you aren’t! You started a business in the niche you did because that is where your passion is, don’t let insecurities get in the way of your presence as a leader!
5 | GET OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE
There’s nothing like building your confidence when it comes to getting outside of your comfort zone. Maybe you are behind a computer screen all day because you run your small business online. Even though you are not having to meet anyone in person, you are still having to communicate and you do not want your words to others leaking negative self-talk. By getting out of your comfort zone your confidence in your own abilities will be challenged and grow in the process. Even if it was as simple as singing karaoke in front of a group of people. By being vulnerable, you’re position as a business owner will be strengthened.
6 | MAKE TIME FOR YOU
This is pretty important. To be honest, I overlook this principle quite often. My husband has to force me to take time for myself and I’m so thankful he does. My business has to be nurtured, yes, but I do also. If the person running the business is dead tired and unable to function then I think it may be time to bring out the spa night supplies.
7 | KEEP A CONSISTENT PLAN
Having a plan that is consistent helps create a “net” for you. You are no longer going to run around like a chicken with its head cut off, no, you are going to confidently walk into the room like the boss babe you are. I believe in you. And I also believe in this consistent plan you are going to create. For me, making a blog post schedule helped so much. For you, maybe a social media plan or marketing plan (written out so it is tangible) may help. Regardless, make sure that every part of your business has a consistent plan.
8 | JUST MOVE ON AND DON’T STOP
So what? You messed up. You are human and so am I and so is everyone else that is breathing. We all make mistakes and moving on is the best solution for this inevitable problem you are facing. You are not perfect (even though I think you are pretty close!) but as long as you are doing your very best then do not beat yourself up over a mistake!
9 | KEEP YOUR HEALTH + ENERGY HIGH
When you feel like crap this doesn’t really help your confidence any. I know this to be true because I am not the healthiest or most energized person in the world. I have developed horrible habits in my early twenties that make me want to kick myself in the booty for being dumb. By simply eating smaller meals throughout the day more frequently, I have heard that your energy levels do not dip as dramatically. Daily exercise is a must and I feel so hypocritical typing this because I am the absolute worst at getting my butt in the gym (even though I have a free gym membership). Exercising has so many benefits though and you should definitely hop on over to Pinterest to check out some time efficient workout ideas.
10 | DRESSING UP ACTUALLY DOES SOMETHING
When I put lipstick, heels, and a power outfit on I feel like I can conquer the world. Even if I will just be sitting at home working on my online business all day I feel more confident and powerful when I put effort into myself every morning. Most days I am lazy and bum around for way too long so don’t follow my example just follow what I put in this blog post.
11 | DON’T LET STATS + NUMBERS EFFECT YOU
Do not place your confident in something so fickle. If you’re business is running smoothly then no need to fret! Actively work on followers that genuinely care about your brand, not just having followers for the sake of having followers! This can kill a business owners/bloggers mood quicker than anything. & when people unfollow you, they are not unfollowing you personally they are unfollowing your brand that revolves around a niche they do not care about. This is actually a good thing! You only want followers that are loyal to your brand and love you for you.
12 | SURROUND YOURSELF WITH POSITIVE PEOPLE IN YOUR NICHE
This may mean having a collaboration with someone that has a larger audience than you, or maybe not! Whatever the case may be, make some solid biz friends that have your back no matter what. This is crucial to maintaining confidence as a business owner because when you are going through the small business owner world alone, it can get really hard + lonely. So pick a few friends to go on the ride with you!
13 | RECOGNIZE FEAR AND THEN FACE IT
Okay, what is your biggest fear in the business world? Now write down how you would face it. My biggest fear was live video. It scared the crap out of me. I’m still not dwelving into that world quite yet but I signed up for Periscope and did my first live broadcast! It’s definitely nerve wracking but hey you can do it!
14 | FOCUS ON OTHERS
Focusing on others is huge. My attitude toward my business is definitely more positive when I am focusing on my client’s needs and my customer’s needs instead of my own. This is why I started my own business anyways was to help others in the blog + biz world! I definitely recommend taking a long hard look at your approach to business and analyzing whether you are focusing on others or yourself more.
