All the daily stuff adds up. You don’t think it does, but it does. I came to this realization with my blog when I started losing my passion for fashion blogging (which is why I switched to this blog!) and honestly, I believe it is because I was not applying some of these essential habits. Being a successful blogger is hard work. Many professional bloggers that are making a somewhat steady income from their posts are not taken seriously from family/friends because, just being a “blogger” must mean you sit around at home and watch netflix all day, right? At least that is what my family/friends thought when I started my blog. It wouldn’t provide sustainable income, so why try? I like to prove people wrong. There’s something in me that knew I needed to keep up with this blog and it has now turned into a profitable business that I am able to live off of! But being a blogger is a lot more than watching netflix all day. It involves a lot of hard work, long hours, and tons of on-the-spot learning. Basically you are a rockstar on the Internet.rockstar on the Internet.
For all you rockstars, that is why I prepared this post. Maybe changing up your blogging routine with a few of these habits may make a difference and help you climb up the blogging ladder faster!

1 | WAKING UP EARLY CAN BE FUN
Okay so maybe not because this was a super hard habit for me to get into. But once you get in the habit, it really is fun! I have been able to get so much more accomplished and I love having a regular sleep schedule for once. Transitioning from college life, where I stayed up until early hours in the morning, to small business owner life was difficult. One of the changes that needed to be made was waking up earlier instead of wasting my day sleeping (because of forever late nights). It was a slow process, but I’m getting way better!
2 | KEEP YOUR EMAILS TO A MINIMUM
Yeah, all those collaborations, giveaways, and linkups. They tend to add up in your inbox over awhile! I mean there is always something going on when you’re a blogger and sometimes your inbox can be a tad overwhelming. But you know what? You got this. You know why? I said so.awhile! 3 | KEEP EDUCATING YOURSELF
Never stop learning. Don’t get caught in the rut that forces you to have narrow vision! Broaden your view a little bit and explore all the other tools and classes that could increase your blog or traffic to your website! There are so many amazing skills to pick up along the way. If you keep yourself educated + up to date, then your blog is way cooler and that is always awesome.
4 | REMAIN POSITIVE, LOSE THE NEGATIVITY
Let’s be positive and lose the whole negative attitude thing because, when I get down in the dumps about my blog, I want to quit. Do I need to quit? NO. I have connected with so many incredible, beautiful women through this blog that have inspired me to be a better person! Being a blogger has honestly become a part of who I am since it has almost been five years and whatnot. So be a positive Patty not a negative Nancy.have inspired me to be a better person! 5 | MAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF
You are important and you need to learn how to love yourself a bit more by providing more “me-time” during the day. I’m the worst at this, I will admit. My husband has had to force me to take breaks and do something else just because I enjoy what I do so much that it seems like I don’t need me time since I love designing + blogging. But it is always nice to get away from the screen and do something else that you enjoy. Like go run yourself a bath and jam to music or bake yourself a really cool bagel.
6 | MAYBE TRY YOGA OR SOMETHING
Or maybe not yoga, maybe just exercise a bit more throughout the day! Keeping an exercise routine and incorporating it in your daily life is pretty cool though and definitely something I need to be more adamant about. So if you have this mastered, I need you to come get me in shape!
7 | EATING BREAKFAST AND HEALTHY FOOD HELPS
You’re brain is powerful. I mean, it created the blog you are running right now so it has to be full of super powers. Providing fuel for all that power every morning is essential so definitely don’t skip out on this habit.
8 | BE ON TOP OF YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA
With a social media scheduling program, staying on top of social media can be fairly easy! Of course I am planning on expanding on this topic because there is so much to cover in this area. Social media is crazy important and being on top of each account is crucial when it comes to being a successful blogger.
9 | PRE-PLAN BLOG POSTS
If you are making your blog posts the day of and publishing them, then oh boy do I have good news for you. Editorial calendars are the bomb and you should believe me because I wrote a post about the 8 benefits of an editorial calendar here. If you read all these great benefits and are excited to get started then check out how to start an editorial calendar here. Don’t worry, I have you covered.
10 | RESEARCH HEAVILY
When you make a blog post, research. Do not simply throw together a half-hearted post that you pulled from something you heard forever ago. Go search out some more information on the topic and apply it to your own post with your own words. Researching provides more meat to your blog and gives your readers something they can actually hold on to.
11 | MAKE YOUR FAVORITE DRINK
I asked Ashleigh from 21st and Main what her favorite blogging habit was and she responded with “make your favorite drink, I live by this one.” By rewarding herself with this small task she is able to focus more and not get burned out as quick by working on her blog. Super idea and I am now going to start making myself some strawberry smoothies when I’m spending an afternoon writing blog posts!
12 | KEEP YOUR WORK AREA CLEAN
It makes a difference, really. I explained this in the 12 essential habits of successful entrepreneurs and repeated it here because, honestly, I think this is a very important tip that deserves to be repeated. My husband is such a clean freak and actually cleans up my office from time to time so that he can sit in a room that is to his standards. I absolutely love this because that means that I do not have to take the time to clean up, which allows me to spend more time at my desk making blog posts like these. Thanks Creed!
13 | KEEP DISTRACTIONS TO A MINIMUM
Oh gosh do I have problems with this but I really do try hard at getting better. Time is very valuable, especially as a blogger. We are creating posts, publishing posts, marketing these posts on social media, doing collaborations/giveaways, guest posting, etc. There are so many aspects to blogging that truly makes it all kind of tough. But keeping distractions to a minimum makes us a lot more productive, which makes the “tough” times way easier because tasks are completed much quicker.
