Your email list is a pretty big deal. I mean, you got this list of people’s email addresses that can potentially have an impact on your business and your life. So by growing your email list, you are growing your opportunities. STEP ONE | High Converting Landing Pages
You’re sending all this traffic to a registration page that offers a freebie, right? You have this amazing opt-in that you know your ideal audience is going to fall in love with and beg to grab for free. So the page you lead them to that asks for their email address needs to be a page that is conversion friendly.
Typically, a landing page has a conversion rate. A conversion rate is the % of people who end up converting once landing on your page. For example, if 100 people visit your registration page and 70 of them give you their email address in exchange for the opt-in, that is a 70% conversion rate.
LeadPages has fantastic stats that it spits out and makes building these high converting landing pages so easy. I’m able to create pages in minutes, it is pretty awesome.
There are multiple strategies you can implement when it comes to landing page creation that helps them convert better for you. Some of those strategies are:
- Keeping a lot of white space on the page
- Minimizing distractions on the page
- Using color psychology to your advantage while staying on brand
- Keep copy short but action-oriented
- Include strategic call to actions
An example of a landing page that you can check out and maybe get some inspiration from is this Video series landing page over SEO which one, feel free to sign up for because it’s free and two, check out how I designed the page and have multiple calls to actions. The conversion rate of this page is very high, around 83%.
STEP TWO | Generate Endless Traffic
Get creative with generating your traffic! Make sure you are utilizing social media to it’s fullest advantage. In 2 months, I had collected 1,500 emails simply by using Instagress which followed + liked accounts that were following similar marketing leaders. Think outside the box and go make it happen!
Get creative and make sure your traffic is evergreen + looping.
For Instagram, start planning out your content ahead of time with a tool like Plann.
For Pinterest, I am obsessed with using BoardBooster (free trial) because I am able to loop my content continually. For Facebook, there are tools such as Edgar and Buffer that both have content libraries. There are amazing resources and tools out there that help you repurpose content, loop content, and get your content on there consistently.
STEP THREE | Get Strategic With Your Content
Don’t just write or talk or record about anything. No, we are going to get super specific and super strategic.
Think about who you want on your email list. What kind of person are they? What motivates them throughout the day and what type of characteristics do they have? A lot of people get really demographic with it and pick out age, gender, how many kids, etc. I want you to go even deeper than that. I want you to write down what types of magazines they read, websites they visit, Facebook groups they may be in.
Now once you find out where your ideal audience is, go there and go analyze them. What type of struggles are they facing? Write content over those struggles with the promise of a solution and then actually solve that problem. Build content around what your audience wants.
When you start strategizing your content in this way, it’s amazing how much less you have to work at this.
Now that you have found the perfect topics to create content over, make sure that within the content you are including links to the landing page you made in step one. That incentive will, of course, need to match what your ideal audience would actually want to download/read/watch once they sign up.
