To some, this may not seem like a lot of money. To others, this may be their goal income. Keep in mind I’m a soloprenuer with very little help behind the scenes and I also work a 9-5 job as a digital marketing strategist. During the three week period that I was taking a break, I had not launched products or anything that was bringing in major revenue like a $700 course. This was mainly passive income thanks to ConvertKit!

I had to take a break from my business. I felt drained. At that time, I was running another business with a partner and I knew that everything I was putting on myself just made me miserable. I wasn’t happy. I began to resent business and marketing which is absolutely crazy because it’s something I intensely nerd out on.
At this time, my husband got into a wreck because he passed out while driving, my grandpa who is so dear to me was rushed to the hospital and spent a week in ICU, and during that week I was unable to visit him because I was so sick I couldn’t eat or get out of bed for 3 days (a virus I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy).
So I took a break from Market Beautifully. I just had to.
No one knew I took a break, though. Everyone thought I was still posting and running around behind the scenes because my social media channels were still active, emails were still going out, and all of my communication with my audience as well as podcasts had been pre-scheduled.
This is key, having sequences in place for traffic.
During this break, I found time to reset and really get to the bottom of what made me truly joyful. So I cut off the other business I was running to focus solely on Market Beautifully, which deserved my full attention from the beginning anyways. After 4 weeks away I opened my computer and started working on my profit and loss statements and realized that I had made $1,000. I didn’t expect it, to be honest!
I went into my ConvertKit account (you can get a free month by clicking here) and looked at the reports. I was getting traffic from Pinterest to blog posts + podcasts to signing up for some freebie I had which led to sequences in ConvertKit which talked about my podcast, SEO Simplified, Journey Driven Funnel, and affiliate sponsorships I have.
Best way to explain is through an image because it’s hard to keep all the steps and phases of this simple funnel I had straight!

1 | Write value-packed blog post
I wrote a blog post that had tons of value and it talked about the 12 SEO mistakes that you cannot afford to miss. When I say “tons of value” I’m talking about 1,200+ words that contain action, strategies, and advice so that once the reader is finished with the post they can walk away feeling as if they didn’t waste their time and read a fluffy blog post.
Don’t write fluffy blog posts. Or record fluffy podcasts.
Provide your audience with information that doesn’t waste their time. There are SO many resources and content creators today so people like me, who are a resource for entrepreneurs, have to fight to keep that spot by creating spectacular content that keeps our audience coming back for more.
If you have a blog, a podcast, a YouTube channel, or are guest posting on someone else’s platform make sure to provide value because if you don’t, people won’t see you as the incredible leader that you are. You got to share your awesomeness with more people than just me, ok?
Before we move on to phase two I want to mention within this content that you are creating make sure to include call to actions. 2 | Pinned blog post to marketbeautifully.com board

I pinned this pin to several group boards and my boards to get the ball rolling and let BoardBooster do its thing. To be honest, a lot of my blog post promotion is just Pinterest. Sometimes I let people on Instagram stories know what’s live on the blog but that is on a good week because I mainly focus on the Market Beautifully podcast.
So all the blog posts that each had their own incentive were pinned on Pinterest and repinned to related boards + group boards.
3 | Looping Content
This is a key component in how I generate endless traffic to my website. Once I pin the blog posts I recently published, I make sure that every day 2-3 pins from my marketbeautifully.com board on Pinterest gets repinned. After 7 days Pinterest compares the old pin to the new pin that it repinned to see which has more repins. Whichever had more repins is the winner and gets to stay until it gets repinned again!
This looping process ensures that my content is always getting out there on Pinterest which is important! So all of these content pieces like my podcast episodes and blog posts that I work so hard on are consistently getting in front of people’s eyes on Pinterest thanks to BoardBooster.
4 | Have a free opt-in
As you can see in that image, I have a free SEO video series called the Make Google play Nice series that anyone can join and get direct access to video one as soon as they register. This was my free opt-in.
What will your free opt-in be? Make sure that whatever it is, it somewhat resembles the product or service that you are offering at the end of your sequence in ConvertKit! That is really important because you want to attract the right people.
5 | Registration page
Build a registration page for this opt-in using ConvertKit’s landing page builder or LeadPages so that you can have a landing page where anyone that clicks on your opt-in incentive link can put their email and name in.
Building a registration page is so easy, especially in LeadPages! I use LeadPages for the majority of my landing pages and I’m honestly a bit obsessed with the software. I have been using LeadPages for two years now in my business and if you have any questions on it, let me know.
6 | Set up a Sequence in ConvertKit
Here is the sequence I have set up for this specific automation once someone signs up for the free video series!
7 | LEAD TO SALE
The sequence then leads to a sale and a follow-up email. Make sure that you are focusing more on the features then the actual sale. No one likes feeling sold to but I hope that you provided your audience with enough value to where when you do pitch the sale they do not feel as if you are just trying to get an extra buck. Because I know that is what neither you or I are all about!
Note to you: My monthly income did not 100% come from SEO Simplified, this is just an example of the system I had in place to generate part of the money. This was a mixture of affiliate sales which were also made thanks to ConvertKit sequences, scheduled broadcasts in ConvertKit, and SEO Simplified.
