So I created this course called SEO Simplified, and found out that many people have heard of SEO as a marketing tactic but never truly understood how it worked or exactly what it even meant in relation to their business + blog. So I wanted to explain what SEO is and what it can do for you to make your crazy, hectic, but oh so incredible life a bit easier.
SEO stands for search engine optimization and my version of the definition is getting your site found by Google so that you pop up higher than anyone else when someone searches for a keyword related to your niche. But in proper terms, Webopedia defines search engine optimization as a methodology of strategies, techniques, and tactics used to increase a number of visitors to a website by obtaining a high-ranking placement in the search results page of a search engine (SERP) — including Google, Bing, Yahoo and other search engines.

Let’s pretend you own a children’s boutique in Nashville, Tennessee (and if you do, go girl, you’re gettin’ it!). If someone in the Nashville area types in “trendy kid’s clothes Nashville TN” in the search bar YOU want to be the first website that pops up before anyone else’s. If someone is searching for trendy kid’s clothes on Google then chances are, they are willing to whip out their wallets if you have trendy clothing that their kids will look oh so lovely in. The name of the game is putting yourself out there. Making sure that YOUR site is optimized specifically for those key words that your target audience is using so that Google bumps your site up.
Within my SEO Simplified e-course I tell my students to force Google how to play nice and then teach them numerous ways to do just that! Forcing Google to play nice is showing Google that your site is of the highest quality and you won’t let them down when they promote you higher than all those other silly children boutiques (because you know yours is way better!).
SEO CAN BE SIMPLE.
I promise, search engine optimization can be simple. It may not be when you are staring at your computer clueless as to why you are not seeing any results. But with SEO Simplified I walk you, hand in hand, through the process. There are definitely difficult parts to SEO that can easily go over anyone’s head but I break it down so I can show you exactly how to optimize your website so that Google believes in your site just as much as you do.
SEO IS HELPFUL, PINKY PROMISE.
Digital marketers swear by SEO. I mean, people are searching every SECOND on search engines like Google, Yahoo, or Bing just to find something they are wanting to invest in. I know I do as well! Google is widely used to research businesses all over the world. Consumers are now online more than ever before which means your store needs to be popping up higher than your competitors so you can land all those sales instead of them (I’m sure they are great, but I’m sure you are greater ;D) SEO is very helpful because it is a digital marketing strategy that boosts your traffic as well as your income. Pinky promise!
YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE A SCIENTIST TO OPTIMIZE YOUR SITE FOR SEARCH ENGINES.
This is a big point. A lot of people think they have to be super duper into all the techy stuff to get a grasp on SEO and all the methods it takes to optimize their site. DEFINITELY not! You’re a business owner. You’re a blogger. You’re doing what you love to do being a boss at life. Google can be a bit picky at times but “cracking the Google code” so that you’ll get noticed doesn’t have to be rocket science. All it takes is a few hours and some tutorials to lead you in the right direction. Just making sure that you are covering the majority of your SEO bases is a must and once that is done, you’re done! Yes, you will have to continually update your SEO but the update aspect is not lengthy.
